SUMMARY:Candlelight Vigil for Human Trafficking Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Candlelight Vigil for Human Trafficking Awareness Month: January 12\, 2019\, 4:00-5:00 pm\, Lawn outside First Baptist Church\, 486 Main Street\, Hyannis; event moved inside if weather is inclement.  Remarks by Janice Hank\, Chair\, Cape Cod PATH; Katie Parache\, Barnstable Police Officer; The Rev. Dr. Kristen Harper; Pastor Jonathan Singer.  Music by Digney Fignus.\n\nJanuary is Human Trafficking Awareness Month.  Join Cape Cod PATH (People Against Trafficking Humans) for a candlelight vigil to recognize the 25 million people currently enslaved in modern-day slavery\, which exists everywhere across the globe\, including on beautiful Cape Cod.  Support Cape Cod PATH’s mission to eradicate human trafficking on the Cape through education and awareness. The typical trafficking victim is a girl age 14-17\, though boys and transgender youth are also vulnerable.\nALL ARE WELCOME. \nBecause survivors of sex or labor trafficking are often homeless and arrive at a safe house or human service agency with only the clothes on their back\, Cape Cod PATH is collecting care bags that can help their recovery begin. If you would like to donate a care bag\, please bring it to Barnstable Police Headquarters\, 1200 Phinney’s Lane\, Hyannis\, attention Officer Katie Parache.  Here’s a list of the new\, unused items needed for each care bag:  toothpaste\, toothbrush\, shampoo\, conditioner\, body lotion\, soap\, hair brush\, 3 pairs underwear\, 3 pairs socks\, pair sweat pants\, package baby wipes\, hair elastics\, chapstick\, water bottle\, notepad\, 2 pens. \nFor further information\, check www.capecodpath.org or email info.capecodpath@gmail.com
